Alpha Lipoic Therapy

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring fat and water-soluble antioxidant, which plays a significant role in several metabolic processes in the body. It is considered a “universal antioxidant” since it demonstrates antioxidant function as well as contributes in the production of other important antioxidants such as glutathione and several vitamins. ALA is essential for cell metabolism through its effects on mitochondria (power sources of cells) and cellular energy production. Because ALA can pass easily into the brain, it may help protect the brain and nerve tissue.

Researchers are investigating it as a potential treatment for stroke and other brain problems involving free radical damage, such as dementia. Studies also support that ALA helps lower blood sugar levels. It improves insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar, helping diabetics by aiding in damaged nerves and arteries. ALA has been used for years to treat peripheral neuropathy in Germany. Its ability to eliminate free radicals may help people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, who have pain, burning, itching, tingling, and numbness in arms and legs from nerve damage.

Intravenous route allows much higher doses of ALA to be administered, and research has found that higher doses seem to have an anti-cancer effect. ALA triggers mitochondrial respiration and may cause cancer cell death. The exact mechanism for this effect is not known, but in studies are promising.

Highlighted Ingredients

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring fat- and water-soluble antioxidant. ALA is found naturally occurring in certain foods such as red meat, spinach, broccoli, yam, carrot, beets, potato and yeast. As a supplement, ALA can be taken orally, or administered intravenously.

ALA plays a significant role in several biological processes in the body. It is considered the “universal antioxidant” since it demonstrates such diverse physiological activity.

Ingredients

  • B-Complex(Vitamins B1,B2,B3,B5,B6)
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid

Precautions

People may experience a feeling of warmth or mild discomfort when receiving an IV. Rare complications that can occur during intravenous therapies include phlebitis (inflammation of the vein) and fluid infiltration (leaking of fluid into the surrounding tissues).

Indications

ALA can support the treatment of any disease as an anti-oxidant but these have been the following have been found to have the most support:

  • General Immune Support
  • Cancer Support
  • Liver Support (hepatitis)
  • Weight Loss
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Diabetes
  • Alzheimer’s and other brain conditions
